Summer is my favorite time to catch up on books — business reads, beach reads, and everything in between. I love supporting authors because I know firsthand how much work goes into publishing a book. So this summer, I’m sharing four titles I recently discovered and genuinely loved. Two are business books and two are beach reads with a good message.

Business Books

Never Ask for the Sale by Sue Heilbronner

If you’ve ever felt uncomfortable selling yourself, this book is for you. Sue draws on 20-plus years as an entrepreneur to make the case for what she calls “passionate ambivalence” and how this mindset helps you close more sales. Whether you’re brand new to business or a seasoned professional, this book is worth the read.

Intentional Networker by Sarah Hubbard

Networking is really about building relationships and Sarah gets this in spades. This book is a primer for anyone who breaks into a cold sweat at the thought of a networking event. My favorite feature is the AI prompts built into the book to help you prep strategically and show up with confidence. Practical and genuinely useful.

Fiction with a Good Message

Down with the Shipmans by Meg Mitchell Moore

A great beach read and one that is close to home as I spent my childhood summers on the New Hampshire seacoast. Meg takes an honest look at what it really feels like to lose a parent and let go of a cherished family second home. She captures the complicated family dynamics during this transition and delivers it with a dose of humor.

Yesteryear by Cristina Alger

I’m not a fan of the tradwife trend and neither is this author. Yesteryear takes on the glamorization of domesticity and the recent attack on feminism in a way that’s as entertaining and thoughtprovoking. It holds up a mirror to real conversations happening right now about women’s roles. If you are not a reader, just hang tight. The actress Anne Hathaway is bringing it to the screen soon.

I would love to know what’s on your summer reading list.  Let’s connect on LinkedIn.
